ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties and responsibilities of this position are to be performed with exceptional caring and genuine guest service, upholding the Oxford Collection of hotels standards and culture at all times.
KITCHEN OPERATIONS (70%):
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to service standards.
- Cook, set up, and prepare food on the cook line while maintaining consistency in food quality and presentation.
- Assist in developing and monitoring a master kitchen cleaning schedule.
- Support cost control efforts, keeping food and beverage costs within assigned budgets while managing inventory and reducing waste.
- Assist with food, beverage, and supply ordering, ensuring accurate inventory management.
- Contribute to menu development, including costing and execution for both restaurant and catering services.
- Ensure proper execution of meeting room food service, maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
- Assist in implementing company programs and supervising daily operations to comply with SOPs, maintain cleanliness ratings, and motivate team members.
- Maintain and enforce kitchen cleanliness standards, ensuring all food-contact areas are sanitized at least once daily and equipment is kept clean.
- Report maintenance issues immediately to prevent disruptions or loss of revenue due to equipment failure.
- Assist in cleaning duties as needed, including washing dishes in the absence of a dishwasher and regularly sanitizing food-contact areas throughout the day.
Perform all tasks in compliance with federal, state, local, food safety and sanitation requirements and Oxford Collection of hotels safety standards and security procedures. Be knowledgeable about and able to respond to emergency situations. Report any maintenance repairs needed immediately to their supervisor or General Manager.
LEADERSHIP & SUPERVISION (20%
- Always provide a high level of customer service, taking time with our guests to ensure every aspect of their stay is up to expectations
- Assist in supervising and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring they follow all state and federal food safety guidelines.
- Support the training and development of kitchen employees, providing guidance and reinforcing company standards.
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance, offering feedback and assistance as needed to maintain efficiency and quality.
- Facilitate open communication, assisting in resolving workplace challenges and proactively presenting solutions to management.
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, and daily staff supervision, ensuring adequate coverage and compliance with labor policies.
- Review time and attendance records, assisting with scheduling while ensuring adherence to company policies, break schedules, and overtime regulations.
- Attend daily and weekly staff meetings as a representative in the Chefs absence.
- Maintain integrity, confidentiality, and sensitivity when working with both internal and external guests
OTHER (10%):
- Communicate effectively with all hotel staff to ensure smooth delivery of services
- Complete a daily activity log with pertinent shift information for co-workers and leadership team
- Coordinate with front desk, maintenance staff and General Manager on things requiring attention
- Adhere to attendance policies and maintain regular availability for scheduled shifts
- Other Hotel related duties as assigned

PREFFERED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required and / or prior experience in restaurant or related field preferred
- Prior supervisory experience preferred or strong culinary experience
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Food handlers card as required by state law
- Liquor server permits as required by state regulations
- Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
- Must be professional in appearance and demeanor
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally
- Must be able to work indoors or outside
- Must be able to stand on feet throughout the day
- Must be able to frequently lift up to 20 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs with assistance
- Must be able to bend, squat crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
- While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
- Must be able to climb stairs occasionally, both indoors and outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
