WAGE: $33.00-$35.00 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY: The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for training and development of restaurant staff. Must maintain budgets and cost control. Must follow required legal requirements, health, safety, fire and hygiene regulations. Ensures all quality standards are met as well as assisting with the establishment and enforcement of food specifications, portion control, recipes and other sanitation requirements. Uphold the Oxford Hotel standards and culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties and responsibilities of this position are to be performed with exceptional caring and genuine guest service, upholding the Oxford Collection of hotels standards and culture at all times.

Kitchen Operations (70%):

  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Kitchen
  • Cook, set up and prepare food on the cook line
  • Assist in creation and monitoring a master cleaning schedule for the kitchen
  • Control food and beverage costs, keeping costs in line with assigned budgets
  • Ensures consistency in food production and food quality
  • Assist in ordering food, beverages and supplies
  • Control inventory and waste
  • Assist in creation, costing and execution of menus for restaurant and catering
  • Ensures that meeting room food service execution is completed
  • Assisting with implementation of company programs and supervise daily operations to comply with SOPs, maintain cleanliness ratings, and motivate team members
  • Ensure all equipment and furnishings are kept clean and that all food-contact areas are sanitized at least once daily, reporting any maintenance issues immediately, prevent loss of revenue or supplies due to malfunction
  • Enforce processes and assist in cleaning of the kitchen and restaurant as needed, including washing dishes in the absence of a dishwasher, sanitize all food-contact areas multiple times throughout the day

Perform all tasks in compliance with federal, state, local, food safety and sanitation requirements and Oxford Collection of hotels safety standards and security procedures. Be knowledgeable about and able to respond to emergency situations. Report any maintenance repairs needed immediately to their supervisor or General Manager.

Leadership & Supervision (20%):

  • Serve as a role model for Kitchen staff and other employees
  • Ensure that all state and federal food and safety guidelines are being followed
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of Kitchen staff, providing training & guidance
  • Train and mentor kitchen, resolving problems through open communication.
  • Proactively present solutions to the management team for resolving problems and conflict
  • Assist in recruiting, training, scheduling and daily staff supervision
  • Review time and attendance records, assist in scheduling, monitor compliance with company policies, scheduled breaks and overtime regulations, and addressing any discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Attends daily and weekly staff meetings in the Chef’s absence

Guest Relations (5%):

  • Interact and acknowledge guests in a friendly and customer focused manner as needed
  • Maintain integrity, confidentiality, and sensitivity when working with both internal and external guests

Other (5%):

  • Communicate effectively with all hotel staff to ensure smooth delivery of services
  • Coordinate with front desk, maintenance staff and General Manager on things requiring attention
  • Adhere to attendance policies and maintain regular availability for scheduled shifts
  • Other duties as assigned

PREFFERED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required and / or prior experience in restaurant or related field preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred or strong culinary experience
  • Good customer service and communication skills
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi task
  • Food handler’s card as required by state law
  • Liquor server permits as required by state regulations

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
  • Must be professional in appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally
  • Must be able to work indoors or outside
  • Must be able to stand on feet throughout the day
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 20 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs with assistance
  • Must be able to bend, squat crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
  • While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
  • Must be able to climb stairs occasionally, both indoors and outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
