Position Description: The Manual Tester works alongside developers and engineers to evaluate software by building test plans, executing test cases, and communicating defects in an Agile environment.
Minimum/General Experience: 5 years of software quality assurance testing
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
- Excellent experience developing and executing manual test cases
- Excellent experience building test plans
- Above average experience with the Agile methodology and sprint-based testing cycles
- Above average experience identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects using bug-tracking tools (e.g., Atlassian Jira)
- Above average experience creating and maintaining detailed test documentation and reports
- Experience working with developers and other members of a software development team
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Experience supporting and testing applications used in healthcare information technology (IT)
- Experience with automation testing (preferred)
- Experience with a federal agency (preferred)
General Physical Requirements needed to perform the essential functions of this job may vary based on the location of the assignment.
- Assignment Location - Remote

- Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, view computer monitors and read. May need to view presentation screens and other visual aids in a virtual setting.

Tasks/activities include, but are not limited to:
- Works with testers, developers, and engineers to evaluate software
- Builds test plans with test cases based on user stories
- Generates data and executes test cases to see how the software performs using manual processes
- Documents testing results and communicates defects to the development team
- Participates and contributes to scrum daily standups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint review, and sprint retrospectives
- Takes ownership of tasks through the full test process including test case creation, execution, and test reporting
- Engages test sites and helps procure Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
- Performs exploratory testing to find additional bugs
- Leads testing sessions with site testers and application users
- Obtains official approvals for patch releases
Compensation & Benefits: The annual projected pay range for this position is $55,124 - $170,450 with consideration being given to various factors including but not limited to qualifications, experience, job responsibilities, and geographic location.
