Primary Job Purpose

Individual contributor located primarily in Oxy’s office in The Woodlands, Texas, responsible for providing technical engineering and project engineering support for all Marine Engineering related projects for the Oxy deepwater fleet. Additionally, perform technical review and advisory to the Marine Engineering, Life Extension, and Decommissioning projects.

Principle Objectives/Duties

Deliver the objectives and goals for the Marine Engineering group projects with specific focus on engineering and management of brownfield repairs and expansions.

This Includes

• Develop and implement technical solutions for issues related to the marine operation of Oxy’s floaters
• Coordinate with drilling and completions group to ensure that any rig mobilization is technically validated
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to address issues with the top tension riser systems
• Coordinate with external service provider to engineered solutions to issues identified offshore
• Manage the work of 3rd party services to evaluate possible platform expansions related to weight, global performance, mooring and structural strength and fatigue
• Develop marine related procedures to be used by the department and offshore
• Perform technical review and approval of design deliverables from engineering contractors
  
  

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Minimum BSc degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering preferred
• Licensed Professional Engineer is preferred but not required
• More than 10 years of relevant experience in the offshore industry
• Minimum 8 years of experience in offshore floater design, construction, and operation
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the design and construction of subsea tiebacks/brownfield projects
• Experience with stability and global performance of floating production facilities
• Experience with riser strength and fatigue
• Experience with Classification and Regulatory authorities on marine and offshore projects
• Skilled in managing offshore work teams including HSE, contracting, equipment and personnel logistics, procedure development, job hazard analysis, risk analysis and day to day operation offshore
  
  

Budget Responsibilities

• Capital, Operations, & Abandonment Projects
• Project budget responsibilities will typically lie between $50,000 and $10,000,000 Gross. Ultimate budget responsibility will be via Marine Engineering Manager or Project Manager that this position would support
  
  

Principle Accountabilities

• Update Marine Engineering Manager and other internal stakeholders on issues related to the floating facilities
• Updates to project manager of various projects that this position would support
  
  

Travel Requirements

• 10-20% on a normal basis
• Annual site visits to offshore facilities (4 – 6 / year) minimum for project coordination and facility evaluation
