Job Description Summary: Minimum starting salary $57.00 / hour
The Advance Practice Nurse (APN) provides primary care to patients. APN provides services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health (addiction/substance abuse and mental health) issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often times have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment. APN demonstrates a warm and welcoming empathic, hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of dual recovery. APN will be trained in trauma-informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive which will prevent victimization, abuse, or trauma as a result of the care received. APN works under a collaborative agreement with a center psychiatrist and, administratively, reports to the Assistant Director of Crisis Services.
Education:
- Masters in Nursing, completing an approved psychiatric nurse practitioner program.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Licensed to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner within the State of Missouri, required.
Responsibilities:
- Interprets and evaluates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Administers, dispenses, and prescribes drugs and provides treatment within the APN’s scope of practice and consistent with the APN’s skills, training, and competence.
- May administer and dispense controlled substances on a case-by-case basis after consultation with the Physician.
- Provides triage telephone calls and provides consultation.
- Provides counseling and instruction regarding patient problems.
- Completes all clinical documentation in a timely fashion as prescribed in policy and procedure.
- Provides monitoring and continuity of care between patient visits.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- When seeing a patient with conditions which are beyond the education, training, competency, or scope of practice of the APN, the APN will consult with or refer the patient to the collaborating Physician. All significantly abnormal lab and EKG results will be discussed with the Physician.
- Medical Advance Practice Nurse shall report to and perform other work-related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Crisis Services and shall be under the Administration of the Director of Crisis Services.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Normal office environment.
- Typical demands include prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator, and other office equipment as needed.
- Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and to work irregular hours and deal with irate individuals.
- TB test upon hire.
