Finance Manager Wanted for Community Co-op

About the Role:
The Finance Manager, in conjunction with our outsourced fractional CFO, is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the grocery store, ensuring accurate accounting, financial reporting, and compliance with relevant regulations. We will look to you to provide in-store leadership, be a resource for the department managers and manage a direct report, the outsourced bookkeeper.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of our financial and reporting processes in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, internal policies, and state and federal regulations.
- Provide financial reporting to internal departments, the General Manager, Board of Directors and external stakeholders as needed. This includes weekly sales and labor reports to the internal departments, and monthly and quarterly financial statements to management and the board.
- Oversees accounts payable processing and manage the system accordingly. We anticipate moving to online payment processing and want you to oversee the transition.
- Coordinate with our POS manager and Front-End manager to accurately record sales and reconcile daily deposits.
- Efficiently close the month and report to the General Manager by the agreed upon timeline. This includes month end entries with a heavy emphasis on the adjustment of inventory and gross margin; recording of rebates and credits; and ensuring all personnel costs are appropriately accounted for.
- In conjunction with the outsourced CFO:
o You’ll support the annual budget process and work with the external accountants to complete the audit and tax return preparation.
o You’ll work with senior leadership to establish margin goals and forecast cash flow needs.
You'll Be a Great Fit If You:
- Have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA a plus).
- 4 years of experience in financial reporting and management, preferably in retail or grocery.
- Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Online, Excel, and financial reporting tools.
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) and inventory management systems preferred.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
