POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to
strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Y
Academy staff at Ozarks Regional YMCA ensures that childcare programs meet community needs
including supervising children, implementing existing program activities, and meeting its intended
goals. The position involves actively engaging with children, teaching, creating and openly
communicating. The Ozarks Regional YMCA strictly follows a zero-tolerance policy regarding
child abuse & misconduct.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implements curriculum within established guidelines.
- Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in children and relationships among children and families.
- Provide children opportunities to build self-help and independence skills.
- Supervises children, classroom, and all activities, including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
- Ensures ongoing, systematic observations of individual children and consistently completes developmental assessments.
- Cultivates positive relationships, conducts parent conferences, and maintains effective communication with families.
- Ability to support children in need.
- Utilize solid judgment and discretionary skills as well as make independent decisions that will affect the YMCA and its departments.
- Ensure YMCA policies and guidelines are followed at all times.
- Maintain an environment that ensures children’s safety and well-being
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities
- Ensure zero tolerance for abuse and actively participate in the protection of youth and teens.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
