PROGRAM DIRECTOR

POSTION: Program Director, School Age Services - Branson

STATUS: Full Time Exempt

REPORTS TO: Regional Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the development, organization and implementation of high-quality programs and events in areas of Early Childhood, Before & After School childcare, School Days Out, Summer Day Camp, Family, and all childcare related departments in Branson. Additionally, provides leadership to ensure that all services offered through the ORYMCA meet the member centric standards set by the organization. The Program Director will work with our mission and policies as a team player to further advance School Age Services’ strategies for the association. This critical role is responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and supervising an age and developmentally appropriate curriculum for the children and families we serve in programs delivered across the association, with a primary focus on the Branson sites. It is expected that an average work week will exceed 40 hours to accomplish the assigned duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assumes role of on-site center director for Cedar Ridge programs and direct contact for Buchanan site staff
  2. Serves as a role model of outstanding leadership.
  3. Model relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  4. Provide leadership and support to part time staff through training, strategic program delivery/ quality, and safety standards.
  5. Participates in site reviews, evaluations, and program improvement strategies.
  6. Maintains department technology used at sites for program, i.e., site phones & iPads.
  7. Trains staff, New Hire Orientation and other areas as needed.
  8. Collaborate with leadership to ensure excellence and consistency in service.
  1. Champion development of staff and set annual standards that achieve programmatic outcomes through audits, surveys, and on-site visits.
  2. Relationship building and communication of information to parents, community partners, and school administrators.
  3. Ensure that payroll and personnel information is accurate and submitted on a timely basis.
  4. Participation in the Y annual campaign, fundraising and other special events.
  5. Maintenance of program environments which are safe, healthy, and engaging.
  6. Positioning of the YMCA in the community as a resource and asset.
  7. Recruit, supervise, hire, and provide coaching and development to the staff
  8. Ensure compliance with state licensing requirements and grant requirements.
  9. Apply basic youth development principles through communication, relationship development, and respect for diversity, engagement, and empowerment of youth.
  10. Ensure effective verbal and written communication between all staff and colleagues.
  11. Foster a strong relationship with the school districts served and ensure high quality programming.
  12. Meet reporting deadlines and all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be 21 years of age or older
  2. Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Child Development or related field
  3. Minimum two years of experience managing multiple youth development programs and three years of experience working directly with youth in organized out-of-school-time settings.
  4. Minimum two years of experience managing multiple youth development programs and three years of experience working directly with youth in organized afterschool care and summer camp settings
  5. Proven experience meeting registration and attendance goals required
  6. Experience working with budgets, developing a budget, fiscal management of programs, and fundraising preferred
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound fiscal management practices, strong organizational abilities and problem-solving strategies
  8. Demonstrated leadership through experiences in supervision, community collaboration and innovation
  9. Ability to adequately observe program activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures
  10. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
  11. Reliable transportation required
  12. Must be willing and able to travel between sites and administrative offices on a regular basis
  13. Knowledge and experience working with state Childcare licensing
  14. The candidate must have the ability to work with people of all ages in both formal and informal settings, must possess a solution-oriented perspective and be flexible and creative, working in an educational setting with a positive, nurturing attitude
  15. Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  16. Dedicated to the Ozarks Regional YMCA and be deliberate in reaching outlined goals. Candidate must exemplify the YMCA Core Values and be able to communicate the YMCA Mission effectively.
  17. CPR & First Aid Instructor Certified (training can be provided).
