Dispatch & Customer Service Representative

This role involves computerized dispatching of company trucks and tendering loads to outside trucking companies.
Customer Service
Your Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive customer orders via phone or from order takers
- Communicate effectively with customers to determine proper quantity, mix, delivery time, and job site location for each order
- Note any special or unusual customer requests
- Suggest value-added products to enhance performance based on the customer’s job requirements
- Enter customer orders accurately and completely into the dispatch system
- Advise customers of potential issues such as load limits, scheduling conflicts, and vehicle weight limitations
- Schedule mixer trucks to ensure maximum utilization and efficiency while meeting customer needs and expectations
- Generate accurate and complete delivery tickets to the plant manager in a timely manner
- Communicate frequently with mixer drivers, plant managers, production managers, and the operations manager to avoid or address issues
- Monitor mixer truck status constantly to ensure customer satisfaction and optimal equipment and labor utilization
- Ensure drivers comply with local, state, and federal DOT guidelines and regulations
- Collaborate with remote dispatch offices to move equipment and people to meet customer demands
- Attend sales meetings to discuss scheduling of plants and equipment
- Adjust dispatch schedule as needed to reflect current and accurate information
- Communicate daily with the plant manager to advise of mixer driver start and finish times
- Regular attendance and physical presence at the office or job site is essential unless hired to work remotely
- Be prepared to perform additional duties as needed to meet business needs
Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Knowledge of the geographic area where dispatching is strongly preferred
- Minimum three years of work experience required, with construction or concrete industry experience preferred
- Experience working with personal computers
- Demonstrated ability to work with basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, including fractions)
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting maps and directions
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple competing tasks
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
