Director, Quality Control

Salary: $107,000 - $133,000 Annually

We’re hiring a Director of Quality Control to join our team in Chicago’s Chinatown neighborhood. This role is part of Ozinga’s Ready Mix Concrete business and plays a critical part in maintaining the quality and integrity of materials that support construction projects across the region.

As Director of QC, you’ll lead and support our Quality Control team, ensuring our materials and products meet safety, efficiency, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate activities of lab and field technicians 
• Train and ensure certification of technicians (ACI, IDOT)
• Maintain and calibrate Quality Control equipment and lab facilities
• Enforce quality procedures based on ACI, IDOT, CDOT, Illinois Tollway standards
• Collaborate with Sales and Operations on mix design development
• Provide on-site support and troubleshooting for customers when needed
• Attend pre-pour meetings and create mix design submittals
• Maintain clear records of test results and correspondence
• Monitor raw material and constituent product performance through daily sampling

Qualifications

Education

• Associate degree or higher preferred
• Extensive knowledge in ASTM concrete and aggregate testing, ACI standards, and concrete mix design
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I required
• IDOT PCC Level III Certification preferred

Experience

• Five years or more in the ready-mix concrete or aggregate testing industry
• Previous management or supervisory experience
• Engineering experience preferred, but candidates with substantial experience in quality control or related fields are encouraged to apply

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Ability to lead and train team members effectively
