Ozumo, one of San Jose’s top spots for sushi and izakaya dining, is seeking a Bartender to join our team. Situated next to the Hotel Valencia in Santana Row, Ozumo features a premium selection of nigiri, sashimi, makemono and classic Japanese dishes, alongside an extensive collection of sake, Japanese whisky, signature cocktails, wines and beers.
The bartender will be responsible for mixing cocktails and serving sake, wine, beer and other beverages for our guests and service team. The bartender must have a minimum of two years experience bartending in a fine dining restaurant and posess a good knowledge of mixology, sake, wines, japanese whisky and beer. Bartender must also be familiar with Japanese cuisine and have a thorough understanding of sushi to provide knowledgeable recommendations for our guests. Qualified applicants must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities:
- Promptly greet guests and provide excellent service with a positive attitude and genuine hospitaltiy
- Prepare cocktails according to recipes for guests and service team
- Offer knowledgable recommendations to our guests to enhance their dining experience.
- Ring all food and drink orders in POS system, collect payment and follow cash handling procedures
- Properly stock bar for service and complete sidework duties at beginning and end of shift
- Check identification to verify legal drinking age of guests and refrain from serving anyone who appears intoxicated
- Prepare batch cocktails according to recipes and possess a solid knowledge of classic cocktails and spirits
- Load bar glassware in dish machine and restock on shelves
- Change kegs when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Minimum two years bartending experience in a high volume, fine dining restaurant
- California Food Handler's Certification
- Responsible Beverage Service Certification
- Thorough understanding of classic cocktails, spirits, wine, sake, beer and Japanese cuisine
- Be able to lift 50 lbs
- Be able to stand on feet for eight hours with appropriate breaks
