The Role: Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this position is based at P&K Stone LLC’s Chico 1 Quarry, located in Chico, TX. This position is directly responsible for the management of mining processes at a 2.5MTPY Quarry.
What You’ll Do:
- Promote Safety- Take an active role prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure all assigned plants have zero accidents and are in total compliance with all P&K Stone policies, procedures and MSHA Regulations.
- Organize and Plan Production- Overseeing the daily operation of our flagship quarry to ensure efficient operations. You will work closely with the Plant Manager to ensure that the mine development plan is being executed according to plan.
- Employee Relations- Provide strong leadership, training, team building and supervision to all employees at our to support the operational function of the business. Work cross-functionally with HR to recruit new employees, provide merit increases, perform disciplinary actions, and evaluate the performance of employees to develop talent.
- Monitor Processes and Materials- Candidate will work closely with the Plant Supervisor to ensure that material being extracted from the pit is of the best quality available. The candidate will also work closely with the QA/QC Team to ensure the clean extraction of material is taking place.
- Develop Key Performance Indicator Reports- Daily KPI Reports shall be reviewed to ensure that KPI targets are being met. This includes optimization of Load and Cycle Times, shot pattern optimization, etc.
- Maintenance- Candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all mobile equipment in the fleet.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience Required:
- At least 5 years of experience managing mid to large quarries in high paced production setting.
- Must be able to provide strong leadership and mentorship to employees, both direct and indirect reports, to motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships.
- Operational Knowledge. Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of rock mining, MSHA regulations, and quality control systems and processes.
- Mechanical Knowledge. Candidate must be mechanically inclined and must be experienced in managing the maintenance of heavy equipment in mines.
- Must have experience planning drilling and blasting of production and non-production shots in mines.
- Interpersonal Skills. Must be an excellent motivator and team builder. Must be able to form strong social relationships and effectively communicate with both internal and external audiences.
- Must possess knowledge and experience leading financial performance to established targets, meeting or exceeding performance goals.
- Working Conditions. Role operates in a quarry environment. Candidate must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noise between 85dba – 105dba.
- Knowledge of PM procedures with Heavy Equipment
- Strong track record of leading safety and health, as well as regulatory compliance
- Understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Teams, Word, etc.)
- High school diploma or GED
