Under general supervision, Scale Clerks report directly to the Administrative/Plant Manager. Scale Clerks operate scale to weigh DOT trucks and enter them into the system to generate tickets.

Under general supervision, Scale Clerks report directly to the Administrative/Plant Manager. Scale Clerks operate scale to weigh DOT trucks and enter them into the system to generate tickets.

- Operate scales using our computer software, Fast-Weigh, by recording customer vehicle weights, truck ID’s, material loaded, and job numbers
- Receive and fulfill telephone requests
- Maintain good customer relationships while delivering exceptional customer service by acknowledging and greeting everyone who comes in the door.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- High level of attentiveness and physical coordination to operate scale control house.
- Receive and Apply Check and Credit Card Payments
- Work irregular and extended hours and weekends to meet customer needs (must be available during our operating hours: M-F 5:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sat 6:00 am – 1:00 pm.)
- Direct non-English customers/vendors to someone who can translate if needed
- Issue purchase orders to production team, as requested,
- Maintain customer files and keep accurate records in accordance with company standards
- Update daily reports for review as needed.
- Assist Administrative Manager and Scale House Operators with other daily office tasks including filing, updating reports etc.
- Maintain friendly atmosphere and communicate clearly with coworkers to cross-train and cover each other’s duties during absences.
- Ability to carry out simple oral and written instructions and deal with simple problems.
- Ability to perform basic computer functions and operate computer software
- Work under fast passed and quickly changing conditions
- Experience in data entry
- Basic mathematical skills, including basic arithmetic functions and common units of measurements.
- Ability to read English sufficiently to be able to understand information contained in manuals, regulations, and reports, including Safety issues and related matters.
- Ability to speak English and communicate with others via a two-way radio.
- High level of attentiveness and physical coordination to operate scale control house and fill in for ground personnel.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Knowledge of office equipment including but not limited to, computer, phone, fax machine, copier, Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Maintain a clean workstation
- Environment: Construction Field environment
- Physical: Sufficient physical ability necessary for sitting, standing and walking for prolonged periods of time; operate motorized vehicles.
- Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents.
- Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
