Professional Dog Bather/Kennel Technician

Job Summary

We are looking for a full time dog bather/kennel technician to add to our team. P's and Q's Pet Resort is a new location that was an expansion for P's and Q's Dog Grooming, which has been a top grooming salon in Lutz for almost 10 years. Our brand new facility offers dog and cat boarding service and doggy daycare, as well as grooming, in an almost 10,000 sqft immaculate facility. We pride ourselves in our cleanliness, modern appearance, quality of grooms and excellent customer relations.

Responsibilities and Duties

Bather job duties may include:

• washing,
• blow drying,
• brushing/dematting,
• plucking and cleaning ears,
• clipping and grinding nails,
• brushing teeth,
• externally expressing anal glands,
• scissor and clipper work on the feet and private areas,
• cleaning (including pee and poop),
• Laundering towels

Kennel technician job duties may include:

• Monitoring dog play groups. Safety is at the utmost importance, so dog behavior is closely monitored and intervention/redirction is necessary to prevent issues BEFORE they happen.
• Introduction/evaluation of new dogs to play group
• Taking dogs out for potty/exercise breaks
• Cleaning boarding suites, common areas, (including pee and poop)
• Washing dishes
• Meal prepping/feeding
• Cleaning kitty litter

There will be on the job training.

Qualifications and Skills

• Applicants must be at least 18 years old
• Must be available to work 9 AM to 6:30 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Shift times may vary some based on how busy we are.
• Please do not apply if you are not able to consistently work these hours.
• Must be a team player, have excellent customer service skills, strong work ethic, reliability and be on time
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and bend
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and handle dogs of all breeds and sizes, especially large and extra large dogs
• Must be able to be outside for at least an hour at a time, for multiple times throughout the day. This is in all seasons including hot weather.
• Working with dogs means you must be okay with getting wet, sweaty and dirty, and there is a risk of getting scratched or bitten
• Must be able to confidently handle large, rowdy dogs and break up dog scuffles if necessary,
• Must be able to work well with a team or independently, and stay on task without direct supervision
• Previous experience in the animal industry is strongly preferred but not necessary
• Must be able to pass a background check
• This is a drug-free workplace

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
