Job Description
The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (P.I.T.) is seeking a new team member for the Office of Assessment to support the college in executing a rigorous continuous improvement plan based on ongoing research and evaluation of campus programs, practices, and procedures. The Research Analyst will work with the director in aiding departments with designing surveys and other data collection efforts to support assessment activities in academic and non-academic areas. The incumbent also will be responsible for creating and maintaining institutional dashboards that support the monitoring of metrics aligned with achieving the college’s mission, vision, and goals. Additionally, the research analyst will curate special data sets in collaboration with IT to support ad hoc requests as well as external reporting requirements.
This role requires strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, excellent data visualization skills, strong attention to detail, good data management practices, and excellent oral and written communication skills characterized by respectful engagement with a range of audiences. P.I.T. is a diverse institution that primarily prepares students for careers in allied healthcare. Knowledge and experience with sub baccalaureate education is a plus, as well as being familiar with the postsecondary needs of adult learners and current trends in higher education.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree
· 2 years of experience with quantitative research design and measurement techniques
· Demonstrated proficiency using data analytic software, such as STATA and/or other analytic software packages (e.g., MaxQDA, Dedoose, SPSS, NVivo)
· Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Word (or comparable software)
· Strong skills in creating dashboards that effectively communicate institutional trends and performance
· Strong computational and analytical skills
· Excellent data management and documentation practices, as well as a strong knowledge of data privacy and security practices
· Skill at balancing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
· Prior work experience demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy as a focal point of
performance success
· Ability to effectively communicate data and findings to range of institutional stakeholders and
external constituents
· A strong customer service orientation
· A commitment to professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in fulfilling job responsibilities effectively
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in business, education, mathematics/statistics, or other applicable areas
· 2 years of experience with qualitative research design and measurement techniques
· Experience with SQL or Python
· Familiarity with Anthology SIS and Canvas Outcomes (or comparable platforms)
· Previous experience in higher education or business
· Prior experience with institutional or program accreditation in higher education (or similar kinds of organizational performance monitoring).
