Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Social Media and Public Relations Manager will serve as the point person for college PR, content development, and social media. Under the guidance of the Director of Marketing, this role is responsible for managing and executing PR and social media strategies. In addition, the individual in this role will play a vital part in creating engaging content. The Social Media and Public Relations Manager will be responsible for carrying out our PR strategies, such as press releases and other communications to drive earned media.
The individual in this role will be responsible for building a larger, more engaged audience of social media followers by planning, coordinating, and creating original content. The Marketing Coordinator will work closely with other members of the college community in cross and multi-departmental social media campaigns.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in media relations, social media strategy, and content creation.
This position is hybrid and allows for some remote work.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
1. Earned Media Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets.
- Write and submit press releases to generate media coverage.
2. Social Media Strategy and Planning
- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to increase brand awareness and engagement.
- Create and schedule content across all social media platforms.
3. External and Internal Media Relations
- Build and nurture relationships with journalists and influencers.
- Coordinate and manage the interview process for success stories and other media features.
4. Content Creation
- Write engaging blog posts, social media updates, and newsletters.
- Assist with writing scripts for video production.
5. Storytelling
- Develop compelling stories that resonate with our audience across various platforms.
- Create content that aligns with the brand’s voice and objectives.
6. Internal and External Communications
- Produce internal and external newsletters to keep stakeholders informed.
- Ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.
7. Influencer Marketing
- Identify and collaborate with influencers to promote our brand.
- Develop and manage influencer marketing campaigns.
8. Brand Monitoring and Enforcement
- Monitor brand mentions and sentiment across social media and other platforms.
- Assist with branding reviews and ensure compliance with branding guidelines.
9. Other
- Be available nights and weekends when needed or requested to attend events may be required for the purpose of videography and photography for marketing uses.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Digital fluency and experience with posting and creating content for social media platforms, as well as posting, analytics, and monitoring tools
- Photography and video skills and editing
- Ability to work independently
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite
- Strong oral, written, presentation, and communication skills
- Skilled in writing and editing content; proven ability to edit and proofread
- Excellent at multitasking, strong attention to detail, and ability to meet details
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
- 1-3 years of related experience, preferably in PR, social media, or content development
- Previous experience working within marketing, communications, social media, web-based communications, or public relations role
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Sitting or standing for long periods of time
- Ability to easily navigate several flights of stairs multiple times per day
