Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: This position requires the individual to be flexible in their work schedule. On-call is required. This individual is considered an expert level SPT, has ACLS, BLS and RT and/or RCIS certification. The ability to direct others and to organize a varied workload is required. This incumbent demonstrates competency in assisting with Interventional procedures from adult thru geriatric patient population. This position reports directly to the Invasive Cardiology Manager. This individual’s annual performance is jointly evaluated with input from the Medical Director of the Cardiovascular/Interventional Radiology Labs. Cardiac Catherization / Vascular Lab Skill set • Demonstrates competency in designated skill sets as determined by patient populations • Performs proper scrub technique • Creates and maintains a sterile field • Monitors patient’s safety during cardiac and vascular procedures • Application of Aseptic technique • Demonstrates ability to perform 12 lead EKG • Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring (CBGM) Quality Control • Interprets cardiac rhythms and responds appropriately • Communicates with members of the health care team regarding patient’s cardiac rhythm / status • Sheath removal and groin management • Apply femostops and safeguards • Able to transfer and save x-ray images • Must keep up with changing technology and new procedures Operations • Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism. • Assists the Cardiologist during invasive cardiovascular procedures. • Circulates within CCL during procedures for the purposes of: Providing sterile supplies, attending to the needs of the patient, running oxygen saturations and performing emergency support. • Removes sheaths after procedures, ensures homeostasis, cleans and dresses insertion site(s). Educates patient on post procedure guidelines. • Prepares CCL for invasive procedures by performing specified quality control and setting up sterile trays. • Prepare patient for invasive procedures by preparing catheter sites, preparing table, and preparing equipment using sterile techniques • Processes images, locates previous studies and stores CD’s appropriately. • Uses effective interpersonal skills in all interactions. • Performs other duties as assigned. • Responsible for crash cart inventory and restocking of emergency equipment for the department. • Prepares room for procedure. • Checks schedule and chooses appropriate equipment for procedures. • Sets up sterile cath trays. • Cleans and drapes patient for procedure using sterile technique. • Understands monitors and records patients’ hemodynamic and physiologic readings during and after procedure. • Ability to operate angiographic equipment. • Responsible for emergency procedures on an on-call basis. • Understands normal operation of x-ray equipment. • Operates and maintains emergency equipment. • Observes patient during procedure and operates any unusual occurrences, always informs nursing personnel of any changes in patient condition.
