Substance Abuse Counselor

PA Treatment and Healing is UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT, and we are looking for qualified individuals to join our D&A counseling team. Our mission is to “lead individuals on the path to change.” We are seeking professionals in our Honesdale, PA location. This dynamic position is offered to those who are seeking a career in the helping professions. PA Treatment and Healing counselors will be required to pass State, Federal, and Child Safety Background checks. New employees will receive the required training in their first year of employment. All employees must comply with all company policies and procedures.

JOB DUTIES

• Assessments and admissions of individuals in need of services.
• Providing Individual and Group therapy sessions to help individuals develop healthy, positive coping skills to manage their addiction issues.
• Developing and updating treatment and recovery plans in collaboration with the individuals receiving services as a way of staying focused in the therapeutic process.
• Monitoring, evaluating, and documenting the progress of the individuals with whom the counselor is working toward treatment and recovery plan goals.
• Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding various issues, including, but not limited to, HIPAA, confidentiality, and risk management.
• Developing aftercare plans upon discharge of clients.
• Collaborating with outside agencies about the client's care.

REQUIRED

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social, counseling, or nursing with a specialty in human services or another related field. Proof of education and/or certification is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of counseling experience, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting, is required. Proof of experience is required.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Full certification as an addiction counselor by a statewide certification body, which is a member of a national certification body or certification by another state government’s substance abuse counseling certification board. (CADC).
