What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Pablo Center?
This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of the team at Pablo Center and will include projects and tasks that require collaboration with all departments of Pablo Center. The duties are broad and often of a complex and confidential nature; and must be performed with a thoughtful and impartial discretion and judgment.
The Controller is charged with overseeing the financial system, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. This includes preparing monthly financial statements and reporting results to management and various Board Committees.
This position reports to the Executive Director.
Requirements:Primary Duties:
- Prepare monthly financial statements and other month-end reports
- Complete monthly general ledger account reconciliations for Statement of Financial Position accounts, including ASC 842 Lease Asset and Liability, Prepaids, Pledges Receivable, Fixed Assets, Credit Card liabilities, Deferred Revenue, Gift Card Liabilities, Debt and Net Assets
- Manage Fixed Asset Detail Schedules
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of Ticketing Revenue and Donations
- Prepare weekly/monthly cash flow forecast as needed
- Assist with developing the organization and departmental budgets
- Ensure bi-weekly payroll is timely and accurately completed using Paylocity
- Ensure all approved payments are made (by check or electronic funds transfer) on a timely basis
- Ensure all bank accounts are reconciled monthly
- Ensure all customer accounts receivable are invoiced and collected in a timely basis
- Coordinate with Department Leaders to ensure monthly revenue recognition is complete and accurate
- Calculate Monthly Sales Tax and submit sales tax via My Tax Account
- Remit and pay WT-11s for Non-resident Performers after show settlements are completed
- Ensure processes are in place to ensure W-9s are received for all new vendors
- Provide data and build reports to assist other departments in analyzing revenue, expenses and patron attendance
- Review work completed by the accountant assistant
- Assist with developing and monitoring appropriate financial KPI’s
- Actively participate in financial conversations with all areas of the organization, and ensure each area understands their impact on financial performance
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial analysis and assistance as needed
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person, on the telephone and by electronic methods. The employee is frequently required to use hands to operate a computer keyboard, office equipment, and other essential tasks. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. This position will require employees to lift items up to 50lbs.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent knowledge and experience
- 5 years of experience in an Accounting
- Strong understanding of GAAP Accounting
- Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn and grow
- Work both independently and in a collaborative team environment with ease.
Schedule & Wages:
This full-time position is a salaried, exempt position and averages 40 hours per week annually. The work schedule will primarily be Monday – Friday, however some nights and weekend hours may be necessary given the nature of the live event industry. Salary will be based on experience.
