We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Derrick Hand to join our team in the oil and gas industry. The Derrick Hand plays a crucial role in the operation of drilling rigs, ensuring that all equipment is functioning correctly and safely. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, an understanding of drilling operations, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction site environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain derrick equipment on the rig, ensuring optimal performance.
- Assist in the drilling process by managing the flow of drilling fluids and maintaining proper levels.
- Utilize cranes and forklifts to transport materials and equipment safely around the rig site.
- Conduct routine inspections of rig equipment to identify any mechanical issues or necessary repairs.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Engage in horizontal drilling operations, digging trenches as required for pipeline installation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the construction site to promote safety and efficiency.
- Support other crew members in various tasks as needed during drilling operations.
Experience
- Previous experience working on an oil rig or in a similar role within the oil and gas industry is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience operating cranes, forklifts, and other heavy machinery.
- Familiarity with horizontal drilling techniques and construction site operations is advantageous.
- Ability to work long hours in challenging environments while adhering to safety regulations.
- A proactive attitude towards learning new skills related to rig operations and maintenance.
