Job Functions / Responsibilities
MATERIAL SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- BUILDS TRUST AND ENABLES OTHERS TO BE HIGH PERFORMERS IN ACCORDANCE WITH PRODUCTION OBJECTIVES
- MONITORS PROCEDURES TO MEET PRODUCTION SCHEDULE.
- MANAGE THE PLANNING, INVENTORY CONTROL STAFF AT A PLANT LOCATION.
- OVERSEE ORDER PLACEMENT AND SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT FOR ALL MATERIAL.
- DIRECTS STAFFING TRAINING AND SAFETY OF ASSIGNED EMPLOYEES.
- MAINTAINS PLANNING DESK ON TOP OF SUPERVISORY DUTIES.
- PREPARES OR DIRECTS PREPARATION OF REPORTS FOR MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATES ACTIVITIES WITH PLANNERS AND OTHER SUPERVISORS TO ACHIEVE INTERRELATED GOALS.
- DESIGN, DEVELOP, DIRECT AND IMPLEMENT PROCESSES AND SYSTEMS TO INSURE UNINTERRUPTED MATERIAL FLOW WITH ADEQUATE PROCESS CONTROL.
- ASSURE THAT PROCESSES REQUIRING PLANT/DIVISION/ CORPORATE COORDINATION IN AREAS SUCH AS NEW PRODUCT IMPLEMENTATION, SURPLUS AND OBSOLETE DECLARATION, AND SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT ARE WELL DEFINED AND SUPPORTED.
- MAINTAIN A CONSTRUCTIVE BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE SUPPLY BASE.
- NEGOTIATE DELIVERY ISSUES AND COORDINATE EXPEDITES AS NEEDED.
- PROACTIVELY IMPLEMENT PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS UTILIZING LEAN/SIX SIGMA METHODOLOGIES.
- RECOMMENDS CONTINUOUS PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS AND PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
MATERIAL PLANNER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- DETERMINE PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSIGNED GROUP OF PURCHASED PARTS BY REVIEWING SALES OR ENGINEERING RELEASES, HISTORICAL DATA, SHORTAGE OR EXCEPTION REPORTS, AND OTHER APPLICABLE INPUTS.
- ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS TO SUPPLIERS TIMELY AND ACCURATELY TO MEET PRODUCTION LEAD TIMES, REPLENISH NON-CONFORMING OR MISSING STOCK, AND IN RESPONSE TO ENGINEERING CHANGE NOTIFICATIONS.
- MAINTAIN ACCURATE ORDER BOARD IN WEEKS 0-2.
- ENSURE SUFFICIENT INVENTORY TO MEET PRODUCTION NEEDS WHILE MEETING INVENTORY CARRYING COST TARGETS.
- EXPEDITE ORDER RELEASES TO ASSURE TIMELY DELIVERY OF PARTS TO SUPPORT PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS.
- COLLABORATE WITH SUPPLIERS AND KENWORTH MANAGEMENT TO RESOLVE DISPUTES OVER EXPEDITE, OT, OR OTHER CHARGES.
- COORDINATE NEW MODEL LAUNCHES WITH SUPPLIERS, ENGINEERING, AND MATERIAL HANDLING TO ENSURE ON TIME DELIVERY.
- MAINTAIN A STRONG RELATIONSHIP WITH DIVISION BUYERS TO ENSURE ALL GOALS ARE MET.
- LEAD RESOLUTION OF BILL-OF-MATERIAL AND INVNETORY DISCREPANCIES WITH INPUT FROM ENGINEERING, PRODUCTION, AND MATERIAL HANDLING.
- MAINTAIN ACCURACY OF EXCEPTION REPORTS/TRANSACTIONS DAILY (UMR, MAPC, ITP, ETC.).
- RESOLVE SUPPLIER PACKAGING, LABELING, AND OTHER COMPLIANCE ISSUES.
- PROACTIVELY IDENTIFY AND RESOLVE DELIVERY ISSUES.
- PROACTIVELY IMPLEMENT PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS UTILIZING LEAN/SIX SIGMA METHODOLOGIES.
- MUST PERFORM OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
Qualifications
- BACHELOR’S DEGREE REQUIRED
- ABILITY TO MANAGE PRIORITIES EFFICIENTLY IN A FAST-PACED ENVIRONMENT.
- OUTSTANDING WRITTEN AND ORAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS.
- DEMONSTRATED PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS.
- STRONG ANALYTICAL SKILLS. DETAIL ORIENTED AND THOROUGH PROJECT EXECUTION.
- SELF-STARTER THAT ACHIEVES RESULTS ALONE, WITH MINIMAL SUPERVISION, OR WITH A TEAM.
- STRONG NEGOTIATION AND CONFLICT MANAGEMENT SKILLS.
- PREFERRED: EXPERIENCE IN AN OPERATIONS ENVIRONMENT IN MANUFACTURING SUPPORT.
