MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL HEAD COACH
Pace Academy is an independent college preparatory school in Atlanta, Ga., with an enrollment of 1,150 students in Pre-First through 12th grade. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Eighth-Grade Middle School Head Basketball Coach works closely with the Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach and is responsible for supporting various aspects of the girls basketball program. The coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Pace Academy and the Georgia High School Association (GHSA).
Duties include:
- Provide daily team coaching in partnership with the coaching staff
- Drive players to/from games, as needed, in a 14-passenger school bus
- Represent Pace Academy and the girls basketball program in a professional manner and within the bounds of good sportsmanship
- Daily practice, game planning and skill development
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess and maintain a coaching philosophy in alignment with the Pace Academy mission
- Experience coaching basketball and a good understanding of how to work with middle school student-athletes
- A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept
- Effective leadership and coaching skills
- Good communication skills with players, parents and caregivers and the Office of Athletics
- An energetic, self-motivated, flexible, punctual and dependable personality; must be a team player
WORK HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS:
A part-time, mid-October to early-February seasonal appointment. Responsibilities include on-campus practices (3 times a week, with one being an early morning) and home/away games (2 hours per commitment). All coaches are employed on an annual basis, and continued employment is based on a seasonal review conducted by the Director of Athletics/Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time during practices and games
- Able to squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, reach forward and repeat the same hand motion often
- Coaching in all weather, including heat, cold, rain and/or snow
- Long hours during the competitive season, including evenings and weekends
Light to moderate lifting
