Job Overview:

As the Fleet Shop Foreman/Head Mechanic at PACE AIR FREIGHT, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the maintenance and repair operations of our fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. Your expertise will contribute to ensuring the safety and efficiency of our transportation operations. You will not only manage the maintenance program and staff but will also work as the head mechanic.

Responsibilities:

-Prepares written materials/records for the purpose of documenting activities, meeting mandated requirements and regulatory documentation for reporting and recording keeping
- Conduct and oversee regular inspections to identify mechanical issues and perform and assigned necessary repairs.
- Utilize automotive diagnostics and mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot problems efficiently.
- Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks. Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
- Perform preventative maintenance as well as repairs to company vehicles and heavy equipment. This may include but is not limited to; brakes, ignition systems, electrical systems, transmission, differentials, general overhaul, tune up and repair work.
- Manage mechanics and provide guidance on repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts and equipment for timely repairs.
- Monitors shop condition, including cleanliness, safety and the condition of shop equipment. Reports problems to the service manager or dealer.
- Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, FMCSA and DOT.

Qualifications:

-Proven experience as a mechanic in a management or leadership role (Required).
- Proficiency in automotive diagnostics, heavy equipment operation, and electrical systems.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Certification in relevant technical and mechanical fields
