CORPORATE EHS ANALYST - ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

SUMMARY :

Responsible for driving hazardous waste management optimization across the network, which involves familiarity with RCRA regulations, understanding of disposal processes, and the ability to work with hazardous waste contractors to establish the most cost-effective, sustainable methods available.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Establish best practice processes and optimal characterization for each waste stream and by each method, across the Pace network.
Work with waste management vendors to ensure disposal methods maximize sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
Work with operations to determine most cost-effective methods to dispose of each waste stream.
Provide support to staff and management regarding EHS policies, programs and practices.
Conducts inspections of waste containers and accumulation areas; coordinates with hazardous waste contractors.
Facilitates training and meetings on environmental management policies, programs and practices.
Reviews, completes and processes various types of logs, documents, databases, and related materials and information.
Provides various support researching issues and developing recommendations to resolve employee, management and related customer issues.
Assists in the review and implementation of EHS policies, practices and programs to meet organizational, operations and management needs.
Assists with ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; receives guidance and direction or escalates when required.
Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
Promotes and supports the overall mission of Pace by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with customers and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Education and Experience :

High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of environmental, health and related safety, operations, or related experience; Associates degree preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations :

Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.

Shipment of Hazardous Materials could be required depending on area of assignment.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Required Knowledge :

Intermediate to complex principles, practices and techniques of environmental, health and related safety programs and procedures.

Intermediate to complex principles, practices and techniques of testing, handling and disposing of materials, waste, and other potentially hazardous items.

Working with the daily administration and oversight of environmental, health and related safety programs, policies and procedures.

Intermediate to complex methods to resolve environmental, health and related safety administrative or technical problems, questions and concerns.

Ability to learn standard applicable environmental, health and related safety policies and procedures on lab and related operations.

Computer applications and systems related to the work.

Principles and practices to serving as an effective project team member.

Methods to communicate with staff, coworkers, and customers to ensure safe, effective and appropriate operations.

Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Required Skills :

Performing intermediate to complex environmental, health and related safety coordination duties in a variety of assigned areas.

Providing various support within environmental, health and related safety and operations functions, such as testing, inspecting, and reporting on operations.

Serving as a team member working with customers and projects.

Operating in a both a team and individual contributor environment.

Interpreting, applying and explaining organizational policies and procedures.

Maintaining databases, forms, documents and related informati0n.

Using initiative and judgment within established department policies and procedures.

Using tact, discretion and prudence in working with those contacted in the course of the work.

Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities.

Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of individuals contacted in the course of the work.
