Environmental Field Technician - Occasional
The Pace® SC-Field Air Sampling team based in Abbeville, SC is seeking a motivated individual to join their team, as a part time occasional entry level Field Tech. A successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the collection and analysis of air emissions samples from our industrial clients utilizing a wide variety of scientific equipment and techniques.

Pace’s Environmental Field Services Division utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and their team of experts to provide comprehensive emissions testing services to our nationwide network of industrial manufacturers, consulting engineers, and government agencies.
Job Duties:
- The tech will provide stack testing services to clients mainly in the Southeast region, but there is potential for travel working in conjunction with the Pace MN Field Services Division to clients in most of the 50 states, including Alaska.
- This position involves working at elevated heights on stacks and rooftops mobilizing equipment by carrying or roping, requiring physical strength during these mobilizations.
- The tech will Perform a variety of sampling methods used for measuring particulates, metals, acid gases, sulfur gases, hydrocarbon gases, volatile and semi-volatile organics emissions.
- Perform field sampling in accordance with EPA, NIOSH, and OSHA methodologies, field service QA manual, and client directed objectives.
- A motivated individual would interact daily with clients, promote cooperation and teamwork among staff and follow Pace policies and standard operating procedures.
Schedule:
- Hours vary due to client scheduling; This would be a part time occasional position, when utilized could be Monday - Friday with high probability of overtime and occasional weekend hours.
- Requires travel/overnights
- Capable and willing to work outdoors in all varying conditions and at elevated heights.
Education:
- Must have High School Diploma. AS or BS degree preferred (Environmental Science or related field is ideal)
- Experience in related studies or work is preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Requirements:
- A valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
- Drug Free
- Physical requirements include, walking, bending, carrying and climbing. Must also have hand and finger dexterity, and the ability to lift 75 lbs. repeatedly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
- Must be comfortable with heights, experience with heights preferred
- Must be able to multitask efficiently and work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Current and applicable computer and mathematical skills. Able to complete basic calculations, compute ratios and percentages.
