Under direct supervision of the Director of Programs and Training/Manager/Coordinator/Site Support Lead. Provide safe and courteous curb-to-curb transportation for individuals that attend Pace. Provide respect, supervision, support and assistance with daily living needs including personal care, learning and employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities in a positive environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide curb-to-curb transportation in accordance with established routes and procedures. Report any issues and/or unusual incidents that occur on the van to your supervisor.
- Conduct daily safety check on vehicle and wheelchair lift using appropriate forms. Inform Transportation Manager and supervisor immediately of any mechanical or safety concerns. Maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior of van, phones are charged and van fueled.
- Complete documentation, e.g., attendance sheets, Condition of Van form, Time & Mileage Sheets, Fuel receipts and turn in to designated staff at the end of each day.
- Ability to lift/transfer/push/pull/bend/turn/pivot up to 38 lbs. occasionally when loading, unloading, securing and adjusting tie-down straps for participants who use wheelchairs.
- Ability to sustain a forward bend occasionally when assisting participants with seatbelts. Ability to reach forward occasionally while assisting participants on and off the van and during program activities.
- Assist with classroom and community activities daily, including documentation of behavior calendars, data sheets TA’s, VTS, Dailies, etc. of your assigned group.
- Attend Mandatory Trainings, Staff/Driver meetings and Staff/Driver Trainings that may occur after your typical scheduled work hours.
- Maintain positive communication with individuals who attend program, home-providers, supervisors, co-workers, referral agencies and community at large. Disseminate appropriate information to site management.
- Report all suspected abuse in accordance with Mandated Reporter regulations and procedures.
- Display professional and respectful attitude toward participants, co-worker, supervisors and assignments.
- Follow agency policies and safety procedures on an ongoing basis.
- Other related duties as assigned.
The candidate must meet the following criteria to be considered for employment in this position:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must possess a valid CA Class B driver’s license with passenger endorsement, proof of current medical card and an acceptable DMV printout
- Must pass pre-placement physical which includes T.B. test or chest x-ray, breath alcohol test (BAT), drug screen, and pre-work screen (back evaluation which includes the ability to lift/transfer/push/pull/bend/turn/pivot up to 38 lbs. occasionally and the ability to sustain a forward bend occasionally)
- DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance
- Must pass pre-employment test which includes grammar, spelling, and math (70% or better overall)
- The California Department of Public Health requires that employees in this position be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If hired, you will be required to provide proof of your vaccination status or exemption from this requirement.
Salary: $19.50 an hour, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week
