Job Description:
The Diesel Parts Counter Sales position in Indianapolis is responsible for providing our retail and installer customers with a high level of service. They also support management in the accomplishment of all assigned tasks, including maintaining inventory control, store appearance, and customer relations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Sell goods and services to accounts and prospects to support the overall goal of sustained growth.
- Conduct frequent inbound and outbound phone calls.
- Develop over the phone, computer-based, and in-person customer service relationships.
- Continually grow technical, product, and application knowledge of parts essential to the heavy-duty vehicle aftermarket.
- Use of catalogs and parts manuals to identify and sell heavy duty trailer and truck parts.
- Suggest sale of related parts when identical replacements are not available.
- Keep current on new products and product updates and answer customer questions about products, prices, availability, and product features.
- Effectively communicate features, benefits, and warranty policy information to customers.
- Operate the point-of-sale system Karmak to search for parts and customer accounts.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 1 year in diesel/heavy-duty parts sales, automotive parts, or related field (or equivalent technical training).
- Proficiency with Karmak or similar heavy-duty parts lookup systems.
- Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills (email, POS systems) and math (calculating discounts, measurements).
Preferred:
- ASE or other diesel/parts certifications.
- Experience with fleet accounts or commercial customers.
- Knowledge of diesel engine systems (e.g., aftertreatment, turbochargers).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs frequently.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally.
- Ability to lift up to 75lbs infrequently.
