Job Overview
As a Counter Sales Associate, you will serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking heavy-duty vehicle parts. You will provide expert advice, recommend products, and offer solutions to meet customer needs. Your role will focus on building strong relationships with customers, supporting sales goals, and ensuring a seamless customer experience both in-person and over the phone.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Greet and engage customers both in-person and over the phone. Provide expert guidance on the selection of products, explaining their uses and benefits. Offer solutions for both immediate and long-term customer needs.
- Actively sell heavy-duty vehicle parts and services to existing customers and prospects, focusing on sustained growth. Build and nurture relationships with customers to encourage repeat business and customer loyalty.
- Continuously develop in-depth knowledge of the heavy-duty vehicle aftermarket, including parts, applications, and technical specifications. Stay updated on new products, product updates, and industry trends to provide accurate and timely information to customers.
- Efficiently use catalogs, parts manuals, and online systems to identify and sell heavy-duty truck and trailer parts. Ensure customers receive the correct parts for their specific needs.
- Suggest and recommend related or alternative parts when identical replacements are not available, ensuring customers receive the best solution for their needs.
- Clearly explain product features, benefits, warranty policies, and pricing to customers. Ensure customers understand the value of their purchase and feel confident in their decisions.
- Utilize the Karmak POS system to search for parts, check availability, process orders, and maintain accurate customer accounts. Ensure smooth transactions and order fulfillment.
- Assist in pulling and preparing inventory orders for customer pick-up or delivery, as needed.
- Assist with stock organization and order processing to maintain an efficient and well-stocked inventory, as needed.
- Collaborate with the service, sales and leasing departments to identify parts for service repairs and leasing needs. Provide support for any parts-related inquiries or orders.
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as directed by management to support business operations and ensure a positive customer experience.
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant industry certifications or technical training a plus.
- Previous experience in sales, customer service, or counter sales, preferably in the heavy-duty vehicle or automotive parts industry.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to develop product knowledge quickly and apply it to customer interactions.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems, such as Karmak or similar.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and customer-focused approach.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift and carry parts up to 50 lbs (or more with assistance).
- Frequent bending, crouching, and reaching to access parts.
- Manual dexterity for operating point-of-sale system and handling small parts.
- Occasional climbing (e.g., ladders or step stools) to reach high shelves.
- Ability to work in both office and warehouse environments, with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and dust.
- Physical stamina to remain active throughout the workday.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in the warehouse, as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.43 - $24.60 per hour
