JOB TITLE: Personal Trainer, Pace317 East Village Fitness

REPORTS TO: Senior Personal TrainerandGeneral Manager

Pace317 is seeking local fitness professionals to join our exciting team.

This individual will join an award-winning, established team of Des Moines-based hospitality professionals dedicated to providing the highest level of construction, design, and commitment to experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Personal Trainers are integral to the club's overall fitness experience. The primary responsibilities of our Personal Trainers are to:

  • Provide exceptional fitness experiences that support our member's efforts to reach their fitness goals;
  • Provide members, guests, and fellow team members with legendary service and enhance their sense of belonging and community within the club;
  • Meet individual revenue/training goals and contribute to the overall financial success of the club and company;
  • Work in partnership with the other members of the team and contribute to the efficient running of the day-to-day operations of the department and club;
  • Support day-to-day operations, including occasionally assisting with daily cleaning and other tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and execute fitness programs that are safe and effective and support members’ efforts to reach their goals.
  • Integrate members into the club by:
  • Reaching out to new members within 24 hours of assignment to schedule their appointment and following up with them 1, 3, and 5 weeks after the is completed;
  • Effectively providing fitness consultations, assessments and orientations;
  • Demonstrating correct use of all weight and cardiovascular equipment.
  • Evaluate clients’ fitness levels and health conditions, assess clients' physical strengths and weaknesses, and consult with them to ascertain their goals.
  • Develop and document unique and individualized fitness programs that ensure client safety, satisfaction, and enhancement of personal fitness goals.
  • Motivate and guide clients during training sessions and ensure clients are working out safely with proper form and technique.
  • Monitor clients' progress, providing them with regular feedback about their progress, and refine exercise programs as needed.
  • Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth and remain up to date on new fitness innovations and trends, and maintain certifications through education, workshops and seminars.
  • Serve as a role model by leading and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
  • Meet individual revenue goals and contribute to the overall financial success of the club and company.

Personal Training

  • Build and maintain a consistent training business
  • In partnership with ownership and leadership, market, promote, and sell personal training;
  • Covert 30% of members who do a complimentary fitness appointment into training clients;
  • Perform activities such as being available on the fitness floor, providing free sessions, and scheduling information sessions;
  • Create and update a weekly strategic personal training business plan that includes setting and reporting on individual goals.
  • Contribute to providing a customer service focused environment that is friendly, welcoming, and supportive, creates raving fans and seeks to provide members and guests with exceptional experiences. (See Service Standards for more details regarding each bullet below.)
  • Be professional and positive in your interactions with all members and guests and overall presentation.
  • Create and deepen relationships with members and guests to enhance their sense of belonging and community with the club.
  • Take ownership of member concerns and complaints proactively and in a timely, professional manner.
  • Contribute to the effective and efficient running of the day-to-day operations of the club.
  • Work as part of the overall team by respecting, supporting, and encouraging your co-workers.
  • Maintain an active and working knowledge of our business as well as all services and promotions.
  • Be proficient in all club software systems and ensure that your schedule is complete and updated on a weekly/daily basis.
  • Follow all club policies and procedures.
  • Attend all meetings, special events, education sessions to learn and provide feedback and share ideas on improving and building all aspects of the business.

Work Schedule

Must be able to work the hours that correspond to the needs of the club.

Desired Experience, Certification, Education

Certifications/Education*

All team members are responsible for keeping their certifications current while employed

1 national PT certification (ACSM, ACE, NSCA, NASM, etc.)

CPR/AED certification

Bachelor’s Degree in exercise physiology/fitness - related field is preferred

Fitness Experience

Prefer 6 months to 2 years of successful fitness related or training experience

Other Experience and Skills

Commitment to providing top notch customer service and some experience working in a fast-paced customer service role

Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse individuals and groups

Team player who approaches challenges in a creative and positive manner

Knowledge

Exercise prescriptions and testing

Developing programs to meet individual goals and needs

Fitness programming, and sales techniques
