Position Summary :
The Engineering Technician Senior is responsible for performing a combination of technical engineering duties with a high degree of accuracy across various functions, including Materials & Processes, Dynamics, Electronics, Mechanical, Calibration, and Customer Support. This role requires minimal supervision and involves working with precision equipment, troubleshooting, data analysis, and technical support.
Essential Functions : Materials & Processes
Review incoming lab requests, determine test requirements, and assign appropriate charge numbers.
Independently set up and operate all lab equipment, including precision gauging equipment, microhardness testers, Rockwell hardness testers, tensile testing machines, emission spectroscopy, and laboratory heat-treating systems.
Utilize precision gauging instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, surface plates, and microscopes.
Perform post-test analysis and prepare reports in accordance with specification requirements.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of materials and processes specifications.
Dynamics
Devise, set up, and troubleshoot digital sine / random and shock test equipment, including accelerometer hookups, centrifuges, oscilloscopes, oscillographs, and X-Y plotters.
Conduct post-test disassembly and assist in analysis.
Interpret complex data and generate detailed activity reports to support decision-making.
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of MIL-STD-810 for dynamic testing.
Exhibit expertise in electronics and environmental testing of fuel, hydraulic, and pneumatic component parts.
Electronic
Develop, troubleshoot, and set up electronic circuits and instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, oscillographs, and X-Y recorders.
Operate and configure data acquisition computers, process control systems, microprocessor applications, and automatic test equipment.
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of electronic principles.
Mechanical
Assemble component parts based on technical drawings and assembly schematics.
Independently fabricate, design, set up, and troubleshoot experimental or limited-run assemblies and test activities related to hydraulic, pneumatic, and limited electronic systems.
Interpret acceptance, qualification, and research & development (R&D) test procedures.
Conduct engineering, development, and quality tests, including data acquisition, reduction, post-test disassembly, and analysis.
Operate laboratory equipment, including oscillographs, oscilloscopes, flow measuring instruments, and computerized test systems.
Calibration
Perform calibration on a variety of semi-complex and complex electronic measuring and test equipment (M&TE).
Set up complex calibration test conditions by interpreting calibration procedures, engineering specifications, schematics, and related documents.
Analyze historical data to determine appropriate calibration intervals.
Diagnose and develop calibration procedures for newly acquired M&TE.
Demonstrate expertise in electronic principles and calibration requirements per national and international standards.
Customer Support
Conduct technical maintenance on various hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, or electronic systems and components.
Plan and coordinate investigations into customer-reported product or service issues.
Review performance trends, reports, and documentation on malfunctioning or damaged products.
Provide on-site technical assistance, repairs, replacements, or other corrective actions as needed.
Perform rework or inspections of Parker's fielded hardware.
Maintain and analyze detailed performance and maintenance service records.
Instruct customers on the proper use, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
Ensure the accuracy of work instructions, service handbooks, and technical bulletins.
Collaborate with OEM divisions to complete corrective actions.
All Specialties
Demonstrate expertise in fluid power systems, cryogenic fluids, and environmental testing.
Proficiently operate all lab and test equipment.
Maintain up-to-date qualification data and daily logbooks for each project.
Recommend new techniques, systems, procedures, and preventive maintenance strategies to enhance overall efficiency.
Provide recommendations for the acquisition and utilization of equipment.
Collaborate with teams from design engineering, process manufacturing, quality control, and vendors.
Mentor and assist less experienced personnel.
Perform other related responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements :
Minimum of five years of relevant experience, trade school education, or military training with demonstrated ability to perform listed responsibilities.
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, schematics, and technical procedures.
Proficiency in basic PC applications and electronic console operations, as applicable.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations relevant to technical assignments.
