Position Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer Exterior Trim to lead the design, development, and launch of exterior trim components for world-class vehicles. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with a strong background in automotive exterior trim engineering, an innovative mindset, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead the design, development, and release of exterior trim components, ensuring quality, functionality, and cost efficiency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to optimize designs.
Develop 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using CATIA V5 / V6.
Oversee packaging, materials selection, and integration of exterior trims such as :
Side valences
Sill trims
Underbody aero shields
Wheelhouse liners
Spoilers and appliques
Rocker panels
Ensure compliance with structural, aerodynamic, and safety regulations.
Support prototype development, validation, and testing.
Drive improvements in gap & flush tolerances, material selection, tooling, and paint matching.
Work closely with suppliers to manage cost, quality, and manufacturing feasibility.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
Qualifications & Skills :
5 years of experience in automotive exterior trim design and development.
Strong expertise in thermoplastics, thermoset resins, and Class A surface manufacturing.
Proficiency in CATIA V5 / V6 for complex CAD modeling and design.
Hands-on experience with launch processes and supplier collaboration.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a creative engineering mindset.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities in a highly collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with crash safety, aerodynamics, and lighting integration.
Deep understanding of thermal expansion, structural design, and module integration.
Familiarity with paint, resin, tooling, and Class A surface development.
Education :
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
