- POSITION SUMMARY
- WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- Collaborate with loan and business counselors to gather necessary documentation for loan applications, assess borrower’s financials, and support underwriting activities.
- Work closely with servicing/closing team to ensure smooth loan servicing, payment tracking, and accurate maintenance of loan records post-disbursement
- Assist the credit underwriter in performing financial analysis, risk assessments, and preparing credit memos to evaluate loan applications.
- Collaborate with portfolio analyst to monitor the performance of the loan portfolio, prepare risk classification reports, and ensure timely identification of potential issues.
- Report directly to loan manager, providing support in credit analysis, reporting, and loan processing tasks.
- MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Underwriting and Credit Analysis (60%)
- Perform underwriting for business loans, assessing risk, repayment ability, and compliance with lending policies.
- Analyze financial documents, prepare credit memos, and present loan cases to internal and external loan committees and incorporate feedback to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Support the development of new lending programs and provide input on program design and underwriting standards.
- Reports and Monitoring (20%)
- Collaborate and prepare with loan counselors/manager to collect required post-loan financial reports and other documents to update loan files.
- Help monitor loan portfolios by tracking payment performance, reviewing borrower financials, and updating risk ratings were necessary.
- Identify potential problem loans and recommend action plans to mitigate risk and maintain portfolio health.
- Administrative & Compliance Support (15%)
- Provide administrative support to the credit and loan processing team, such as maintaining borrower files and loan records.
- Ensure that borrowers files are organized and that all required documentation is up to date in the loan management system.
- Assist with loan disbursement and closing processes, verifying documents before disbursement.
- Assist in compiling data for internal and external reporting requirements, such as audits and annual city/state/federal reports.
- Stakeholder Engagement (5%)
- Represent the organization in borrower meetings, partnerships, and community engagements
- Provide technical expertise and support to internal teams to ensure smooth collaboration across lending programs.
- QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES, & SKILLS
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related. Coursework or certifications in credit analysis, financial analysis, or related are a plus.
- At least two years working experience in financial analysis, credit analysis, loan processing, or related financial services role.
- Experience with small business lending or contract financing is a plus. Familiarity with analyzing financial statements, tax returns, and other relevant financial documents.
- Experience working in a nonprofit, CDFI, or community-focused financial institution is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Proficiency in customer relation management (CRM) software or loan management software preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced office setting
- Effective problem-solving and mediation skills
- Bilingual skills highly desired
