Are you looking to make a difference in the life of an adult living with autism?
Pacific Autism Center for Education ( PACE ) is currently seeking enthusiastic residential caregivers to assist in one of our 5 residential group homes where we provide 24 / 7 caregiver in-home support for autistic individuals.
Must work at least one shift on Saturday or Sunday.
Specific shifts needed : 2pm-10pm
Valid CA driver's license with good driving record required. PACE clients regularly go on community outings.

Teaching the residents functional daily living skills, helping them during community outings, assisting meal preparation and planning activities are just some of the opportunities in residential care! Requirements : Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for providing direct quality care to the consumers of the facility. The primary focus of the DSP is to ensure the safety and highest quality of life for the consumers while strictly adhering to the behavior plans, program schedules and other procedural guidelines required.
Essential Functions
The essential functions and duties of the Direct Support Professional are as follows :
Supervision, protection, and care of the children / teens individually and in groups at all times.Assistance - Provide appropriate levels of assistance to each child / teen in an individual or group setting as needed to address functional health, developmental, social and behavioral goals. Assistance may include grooming, toileting, etc.Administration of positive reinforcement and setting of limits for behaviors based on individual client behavior plans.Notation of the client’s progress; identification of the possible need for professional services; and communication of such findings to supervisor.While on shift, DSP may perform duties such as : office work, cooking, housecleaning, laundering.Teamwork – Positively collaborate with other staff members in working effectively as a team in supporting the needs of the clients and the program.Accountability – Ensure that all the procedures and protocols set forth by the Administrator are adhered to at the facility.Consumer Services – Responsible in understanding and maintaining the immediate needs and supports of all residents served.Health & Safety – Maintain a clean & safe environment. Monitor the health and safety of all residents. Report any suspected resident abuse. Handle all emergencies and immediately notify the appropriate individuals (i.e., 911 or Administrator).Skill Training – Provide supervision of residents based on the implementation of his / her IPP / ISP / Behavioral goals / objectives.Social Normalization – Utilize group and individual outings within the local community.Knowledge, Skill and Experience
The DSP must possess the following minimum requirements for consideration as a DSP.
Age – 18 years of age or older.Education – High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred. Competency in English writing and communication required.(i.e., clear verbal & written communications with coworkers and occasional visits from Licensing staff).First Aid – Able to obtain a valid first aid certificate from California and maintain this certificate in good standing.Medical – Must have a clear physical health and TB test prior to employment and routinely during employment as required.Clearance – Must possess and maintain a clear DOJ, FBI and / or CAI (Child) clearance prior to and during employment. PACE will pay for these clearancesMust hold a valid California driver's license with clean driving record and be willing to drive a large passenger van.Physical Requirements
The DSP must be able to physically support each other with consumer behavioral issues / care, as well as the ability to respond to emergency situations appropriately.
Must be able to lift and or push at least 40 lbs. with assistanceThe ability to physically redirect the resident as needed during behavioral issues. The wait out method is preferred.Must be able to physically bend, squat, reach over shoulders, reach overhead, reach outward, kneel, sit, walk on normal, slippery, or uneven surfaces and stand.
