Pacific Excess Insurance Marketing is a Commercial Insurance Wholesale Broker writing Standard and E&S insurance products in Hospitality, Habitational, and other Main Street Small Business classes of business primarily in 7 western states and beyond. Many of our employees have been with the company for more than 20 years.
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Assistant Underwriter. The ideal candidate would be an individual that is familiar with all phases of commercial P&C policy issuance and can maintain support for the Underwriter.
About the Position:
· Preferred 5 years of experience in commercial insurance as an Underwriter, Assistant Underwriter, or Junior Underwriter position with an ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of P&C program business, including surplus lines.
· Understands and able follow underwriting support procedures.
· Familiarity with commercial applications, including Acord forms and supplementals.
· Ability to identify/gather relevant account information to assist with the process of rating, quoting, and binding policies. Attention to detail is a must. Familiarity with carrier portals is required.
· Has the ability to prioritize and adapt to effectively meet deadlines. Manages account documentation i.e., renewals, policy change, endorsements, cancellations, etc.
· Able to develop professional and courteous relationships with an emphasis on customer service with Account Executives, CSRs, and Agents, and likewise with Underwriting Manager and Underwriting Team, as well as Carrier partners. Able to communicate effectively.
· Able to take responsibility and function independently, as well as reach out for assistance from team members when needed.
· Demonstrates willingness to broaden knowledge & skills. Our company typically prefers to promote from within.
· Must be honest, reliable, and self-motivated.
Minimum Qualifications
· High School diploma or equivalent required. Preferred college level insurance courses completed.
· Minimum 3 or more years insurance experience related to rating, quoting, and issuance of P&C Commercial Insurance policies is preferred. Surplus Lines knowledge and policy handling a plus.
· Basic software/technology skills required, able to effectively utilize Windows OS, MS Office including Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat (PDF), internet search, and general knowledge of agency management systems (AIM). Must be comfortable with new technology or show an interest and ability to learn.

Job Type: Full-time 37.5 hours per week
Pay Range: $28 - $31 per hour depending on skill and experience.
