Our mission is to support the USS Arizona Memorial and other Pacific Historic Park locations through education and interpretive programs, research, preservation, and restoration, to perpetuate the memory of events and honor the people involved in these sites. PHP’s Volunteer Coordinator needs to be an individual who is a leader that can inspire, grow, and manage our volunteer program that supports our Pearl Harbor and other parks service needs.
Job Summary
This role is responsible for recruiting, interviewing, supervising and training volunteers. Schedule volunteers for ongoing tasks as well as for staffing events. Organizing and promoting events is another responsibility that many organizations assign to the volunteer coordinator.
Duties:
- Coordinate and facilitate volunteer teams for office projects, program support, partner positions including the National Park Service and Diamond Head State Park, special events, and various community outreach efforts.
- Managing volunteers
- Respond to all inquiries in a timely, professional, and organized manner
- Ability to think outside of the box, be pro-active and flexible with the tasks assigned
- Placing volunteers in roles based on their experiences(s), qualifications and interests
- Work with other staff to organize regular volunteer training as needed
- Oversee all volunteer recognition programs including awards, events and name tags
- Track all volunteer hours and create and distribute reports as directed
- Maintain a volunteer database
- Oversee volunteer recruiting efforts including outreach events, applications and online listings
- Facilitate good communication with and between volunteers
- Creating volunteer policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Provide service excellence
- Valid Hawaii Driver’s License with a clean abstract
- Must live in Honolulu
- Proficient in the use of computer applications such as Word and Excel and in using CRM systems
- High School diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Experience in volunteering and recruiting a plus
- Ability to make quick and efficient suggestions/changes in a demanding, fast paced, team environment
- Demonstrated strategic thinking, analytical skills and ability to evaluate and anticipate future business needs
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong proofreading abilities
- Ability to multitask and troubleshoot issues quickly

Salary : $50,000 - $60,000
