POSITION SUMMARY

Lead, organize, and instruct crew members of a landscape construction installation team on commercial and residential landscaping projects. Follow the instructions given by your construction project manager. Efficiently perform landscape construction jobs and tasks as assigned while maintaining the parameters of the budget given. Follow company policies in attendance and time keeping.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Meet and communicate with the construction project manager to discuss job scope, client expectations, and specific tasks for each project.
  • Organize the crew and create work plans for daily and weekly operations.
  • Forecast material needs for each project and communicate with the project manager to determine the best way to obtain these materials.
  • Understand, maintain, and operate within the confines of a budget for each project.
  • Learn each project’s job site rules & requirements.
  • Safely operate all landscape construction equipment according to state and federal laws.
  • Train crew members on the safe operation of equipment and power tools.
  • Conduct safety checks of trucks, trailers, and equipment before leaving the yard. Supervise and assist crew members with loading and unloading equipment, soil, mulch, and tools needed for each day.
  • Learn and follow the equipment maintenance process.
  • Drive truck, trailer, and heavy equipment.
  • Complete all required daily job sites and crew documentation accurately.
  • Wear uniforms provided and present a professional appearance.
  • Report to work on time every day.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • 18 years or older.
  • Ability to legally work in the U.S.
  • Required: State of Washington Driver’s License.
  • Required: 4 – 5 years commercial/residential landscape construction experience.
  • Required: 3 years minimum in Foreman position – leading crews
  • Required: Ability to communicate, by taking or giving direction in English or Spanish.
  • Must have an advanced level of understanding in irrigation installation, hardscape installation, machine operating, planting, reading plans, organizing workload and running a crew efficiently daily.
  • Must display good time management practices and leadership qualities.
  • Must be committed to safety and safe operating procedures.
  • Must have familiarity with commonly used landscape construction materials (and their vendors) in the greater Seattle area.
  • Must be able to identify common PNW plant species.
  • Must have the ability to perform manual labor, wheelbarrowing, digging, raking, mulching, debris pick up and removal, and have a full range of motion.
  • Must have knowledge and experience using 2-cycle power equipment.
  • Must be able to work well with others and be part of a team.
  • Must be able to identify problems on the job site and take steps to resolve issues.
  • Prefer knowledge of hand pruning shrubs and small trees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • An ability to lead by example and direct a crew of construction personnel, with the ability to train.
  • Ability to see at close vision, distant vision and in color.
  • Frequent standing for extended periods, walking frequently, crawling, and sitting.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Able to extensively handle and move materials and perform physical activities— Using hands, arms, and legs in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Ability to work extended hours and in inclement weather.
  • Frequent twisting of the torso and bending at the waist.
  • Must be able to crawl on hands and knees on uneven ground.
  • Must be able to safely use power tools, picks, and shovels.
