Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Inspector to join our team at our metal stamping manufacturing facility. The Inspector is responsible for inspecting custom metal parts for defects and deviations from specifications, using precision measuring instruments and complex test equipment. The Inspector is also responsible for ensuring all quality and safety standards are followed.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect parts for conformance to customer specifications.
- Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, micrometers, Keyence computer inspection equipment and comparator.
- Complete inspection reports as required.
- Must follow work instructions. Read travelers to determine operation, quantity and inspection intervals.
- Log inspection results. Sign off on traveler routing steps after successful inspections. Plot critical dimensions and plot on final inspection logs.
- Notify management of discrepancies or if parts are trending toward non-conformance.
- The Inspector will confirm that all required paperwork is intact such as outside processor certifications and first article reports.
Education and Training, Physical Requirements:
- The Inspector is required, as a minimum, to have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. The Production Manager can determine whether education and training are “equivalent” based on experience.
- Requires intermediate mathematical skills. These skills can be supplemented with on-the-job training.
- Must have Blueprint Reading, Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing Training and experience
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and be able to follow verbal and written instructions well.
- Must be able to stay on task while standing or sitting for long periods, and be adaptable to a changing work environment.
- Inspectors also must be open to being exposed to noise and varying temperatures.
- Must be computer literate
- Must be able to effectively communicate with management regarding non-conforming parts and offer resolution suggestions.
- Qualifications/Skills: Intermediate Math Skills, Traveler / Drawing Reading, Detail Oriented, Professionalism, Strong Attention to Detail and Follow Through, Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills, Able to Follow Verbal and Written Instructions.
Technical Requirements:
The Inspector is required to read and understand information as it relates to job responsibilities. This includes procedures and documents that relate directly to the inspection processes. The inspector is required to use complex computerized inspection equipment. The Inspector should also have the ability to interface with all company personnel as well as Customers, as the need arises.
Managerial Experience:
Some experience is helpful, as the Inspector will need to interface with every employee bringing parts for inspection and direct these employees as to inspection intervals and any arising issues.
