Who We're Looking For:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Fleet Manager to oversee the management, maintenance, and efficient operation of the Company’s fleet of vehicles, construction equipment, and tools. This role is essential for ensuring that our Company assets are properly maintained, compliant with regulations, and available for projects. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and have a strong background in fleet management, maintenance scheduling, cost management, and risk mitigation. Key Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
- Fleet Management:
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of the company’s fleet of vehicles, including trucks, trailers, and any other company-owned transportation or mobilization equipment.
- Ensure vehicles follow routine maintenance schedules and comply with local and federal regulations.
- Monitor fuel usage, mileage, and condition to optimize vehicle efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Coordinate with vendors and senior management in the purchasing, repair, replacement, and disposal of fleet assets.
- Manage vehicle inventory, ensuring all necessary permits, licenses, registrations, and insurance are up to date.
- Equipment & Tools Management:
- Manage the full lifecycle of construction equipment and tools, from acquisition to maintenance and retirement.
- Ensure all equipment and tools are properly stored, tracked, and labeled.
- Schedule and perform regular maintenance and inspections of equipment to reduce downtime and extend lifespan.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of tools and equipment, tracking usage and availability for job site needs.
- Staff Coordination and Supervision:
- Supervise staff mechanic technicians, operations coordinator position, and any staff who maintain and repair the fleet, equipment, and tools.
- Coordinate with project managers and field supervisors to ensure equipment and tools are available and ready for use.
- Effectively oversee fleet operations across several regions, balancing between office duties and on-site inspections or meetings.
- Communicate effectively with remote teams, supervisors, and vendors across multiple locations to ensure fleet and equipment needs are met consistently.
- Train staff on the proper use, maintenance, and safety protocols of equipment and tools.
- Cost Management:
- Collaborate with Accounting & Finance Departments to develop and manage the budget for fleet, equipment, and tool operations.
- Control costs related to assets including but not limited to: repairs, replacements, and maintenance, finding cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure that all fleet vehicles, equipment, and tools meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with Safety Manager to implement safety procedures for equipment operation and tool usage on job sites.
- Maintain proper documentation for vehicle inspections, equipment servicing, and tool usage.
- Vendor and Supplier Management:
- Source and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers for fleet, parts, equipment, and tools.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with service providers and suppliers.
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of necessary tools and equipment for projects.
- Reporting and Analysis:
- Generate reports related to fleet, equipment, and tool usage, including maintenance schedules, costs, and operational performance.
- Analyze data to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement.
- Provide regular updates to management on fleet performance, equipment readiness, and budget status.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (5 years) in fleet management, construction equipment management, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of construction equipment and tools, including their maintenance and repair needs.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to vehicle fleet operations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with experience managing a team.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and teams.
- Ability to travel regularly between the office location in Arizona (AZ) and other project sites or company locations, including Nevada (NV), as needed. Travel may require overnight stays and flexibility in scheduling
- Proficient in fleet management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and tools as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with GPS tracking and fleet management software.
- Certification in fleet management or related fields.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations.
- Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting and minor repairs.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Valid CDL
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions (in-office, outdoors, construction sites, loud machinery, etc).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual tasks related to equipment and tools.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during inspections and field visits or while in office.
- Ability to safely operate and work around construction equipment, machinery, and vehicles with strong visual and auditory awareness with or without the use of corrective lenses and or hearing devices.
