Position Overview:
The Athletic Director (AD) is responsible for the overall management and development of the school's athletic programs, ensuring that all sports activities are conducted with a focus on student-athlete success, safety, and academic achievement. The AD will oversee the planning, coordination, and evaluation of sports programs and staff, coordinate budgets, and serve as a key representative of the institution's athletic department to students, faculty, staff, and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Management:
o Oversee all athletic programs and activities to ensure alignment with the institution’s mission and goals.
o Ensure that all sports programs are set up, organized, properly scheduled, and operated efficiently.
o Develop and implement policies and procedures for all aspects of the athletic program.
2. Staff Management:
o Hire, train, and supervise coaching staff, assistant coaches, and athletic support staff.
o Conduct regular performance evaluations for all staff members.
3. Resource Management:
o Oversee the procurement of athletic equipment and facilities maintenance.
o Seek out and manage athletic sponsorships, donations, and fundraising activities.
o Contributes to, monitors with, adheres to, and communicates athletic budget with appropriate parties.
4. Compliance and Safety:
o Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as rules from athletic governing bodies (e.g., NJCAA).
o Ensure the health and safety of all student-athletes, including the management of medical, insurance, and emergency protocols.
o Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes to ensure eligibility and overall success.
5. Public Relations and Communication:
o Serve as the public face of the athletic department, fostering positive relationships with the community, media, and alumni.
o Represent the institution in meetings and at conferences related to athletics.
o Responsible for management of all public athletic events
6. Facility and Equipment Management:
o Oversee the maintenance and improvement of athletic facilities.
o Ensure that all equipment is safe, functional, and available for use.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in sports management, physical education, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Proven experience in managing an athletic department or sports programs
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of relevant athletic regulations and standards.
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, faculty, and the community.
- Demonstrated alignment with the mission, vision, and values of PNWCC.
Work Environment:
- The position may require evening and weekend work, particularly during sports seasons and events.
- The AD will need to travel for events, competitions, and recruiting purposes.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
