Schedule: Full Time (32-40 hours/week)

Summary: To provide a loving, nurturing, safe, stimulating, Christian environment that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of each child.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in creating and upholding a Christian environment for the children and coworkers, and not using the Lord’s name in vain.
- Supervise and monitor children at all times.
- Respond appropriately to crisis or emergency situations that may occur.
- Responsible for the overall supervision of daily class functions of a group of children, creating a warm, loving, and nurturing environment encouraging them to learn, develop, and advance.
- Conduct daily health checks on each child, perform ongoing developmental evaluations and screenings of children, develop action plans and documents as required.
- Ensure children are kept tidy – ensuring noses, faces, and hands are clean, shoes are on the right feet, etc.
- Assess individual and group needs, attending to special needs, specific interests, strengths, and concerns.
- Create and maintain respectful and positive partnerships with students, families, and all staff.
- Maintain ongoing, open communication with parents formally (conferences) and informally (in-class) regarding their child’s developmental progress, needs, and interest.
- Encouraged to participate with children in prayers, songs and interact and play with children during free time and activities both indoors and outdoors (playgrounds)
- Comply with operating licensing policies, center policies, and use approved discipline methods and redirecting techniques appropriately.
- Clean and sanitize equipment and toys on a daily basis in accordance with hygiene procedures and participates in the necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, playgrounds, and common use areas.
- Attend required meetings and training as needed or required to enhance expertise and professionalism at Pacific Northwest Early Learning Center and to fulfill job requirements.
- Inform Center Director of any pertinent information regarding children, parents, or other staff.
- Successfully complete all required trainings required by Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families and Pacific Northwest Early Learning Center.
- Support and direct new staff, assistant teachers, and aides in the policies and practices of the center including; class schedule and routine, behavior management, daily sheets, classroom upkeep etc.
- Seek supervision and remain open to supervisor’s suggestions.
- Completes classroom logs including; Daily Attendance, Diaper Logs, Meal Counts, and Teacher Sign-ins.
- Ensuring teacher requirements are kept current and Merit is up to date to remain “legal” in a space.
- Sets professional goals and objectives.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Planning
- Reviews and implements daily lesson plans and daily classroom routines in accordance with the center’s provided curriculum and programming that promotes all aspects of each child's development.
- Develops age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities that support the center’s curriculum.
- Posts lesson plans which are easily accessible and visible for parents and all staff to observe.
- Meets deadlines in completing lesson plans, student evaluations, monthly newsletter, or any other reports requested by Program Coordinator and/or Administration. (Any changes made to the classroom, ex. layout, movement of furniture, changes in lesson plans etc. must go through Program Coordinator)
- Develops and maintains portfolios of children’s developmental progress, keeping records, work samples and other evidence of growth and development. (To be used in conferences)
- Participates in parent conferences.
- Sets goals and objectives.

Physical Demands
Position requires regular walking, standing, kneeling, and sitting on floor. Ability to frequently lift, carry and hold children and infants. Lifting objects may be required (typically, weight does not exceed 25 lbs., may on occasion be up to 50 lbs.) Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the ability to hear co-workers when working on team projects or at meetings, the ability to hear young children in the classroom and/or on playground.

Position Requirements and Qualifications
In accordance with WAC 110-300-0100(6) a lead teacher must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have, working towards, or planning on getting ECE initial and short certificate
- Passed background check with fingerprints.
- Infant Child and Adult CPR and first aid
- Food handler’s permit
- 30-hour Basic Stars and additional 10-hours per year.
- Trainings through DCYF training

Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour
