A Maintenance Assistant is responsible for performing ongoing facility maintenance and repairs. Duties may include landscaping, fixing machinery, plumbing, heating, and wiring, inspecting buildings for repair needs, communicating with the Maintenance Manager on a regular basis, and completing tasks as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A Maintenance Assistant is expected to perform a wide range of repair tasks as directed, which may include:
- Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing and repairing structural damage
- Maintaining building equipment
- Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
- other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
A Maintenance Assistant requires a diverse mix of both hard and soft skills, particularly manual labor skills which may include:
- Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the facility
- Mechanical/machine maintenance and repair
- Grounds keeping to maintain outdoor areas
- Interpersonal skills to interact with upper management and the ability to take direction
- Attention to detail to ensure all assigned jobs are completed in an exemplary and timely manner, and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
- Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on buildings/grounds/machines
