Overview

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit billing data and medical claims to insurance companies.
- Prepare bills and invoices, documenting amounts due for medical procedures and services.
- Ensure compliance with anti-kickback and anti-fraud laws, including proper documentation and reporting
- Manage a team responsible for charge entry, payment posting, AR follow-up, and patient phone calls
- Manage escalations and complex billing issues.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline billing processes and improve efficiency.
- Verify patients' insurance coverage.
- Review medical documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Manage collections and unpaid account balances.
- Achieve maximum reimbursement for services provided.
- Track the status of claims, denials, and appeals to ensure timely payment.
- Contact insurance companies regarding denied claims and submit appeals with appropriate documentation.
- Respond to billing inquiries from patients, staff, customers, and insurance companies, and resolve complaints.
- Conduct audits and Medicare reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure that each patient’s medical information is accurate and up to date.
- Oversee billing processes and ensure accuracy in coding and billing.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical billing is a plus.
- 5-7 years of experience in medical billing or a related field.
- Strong understanding of medical billing procedures, insurance policies, healthcare billing regulations and compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using billing software and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Strong organizational, leadership and time management skills.
