Job Overview
This position will support operations by maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing equipment including but not limited to: Forklift, Trailer, Reach Stacker and Top Handler. This position creates value for the facility by performing preventative and corrective maintenance leading to increased uptime and reliability, thus helping the facility to meet their production and quality goals.
Responsibilities
- Identify, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and simple electrical problems on plant facilities and production equipment
- Performs preventative maintenance per defined interval/schedule in a timely manner
- Perform all functions in accordance with operation and safety guidelines
- Perform routine inspection on assigned equipment; refer defects or repairs to mechanic personnel
- Maintain constant communication with co-workers to ensure that the correct load is moved at the right time and to the correct location
- Stack empty and full containers in an orderly and safe manner in the locations
- Operate Reach Stackers, Toploader/Empty Handler to properly transport containers, general cargo, including pipe and break bulk, within a specific time-frame from one location to another with the proper and safe care to avoid any damages or accidents
- Operate yard truck to pull, transport, load, and discharge break bulk or empty and loaded containers using standard equipment
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned
- Perform general terminal duties depending on business volume and needs
- Maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards and awareness of surroundings (i.e. vehicles, people checking equipment, etc.) at all times
Experience
- Strong mechanical repair/troubleshooting skills with Forklift and Trailer.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation, including cranes and forklifts, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes, as well as order picking techniques, will be beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
