The Machine Operator is the first line of defense against producing defective vials and is primarily responsible for loading glass tubing, monitoring assigned machine lines that produce vials, ensures quality products are being manufactured and notices any problems with the machine and corrects them if capable by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions/Duties:
- Loads glass tubing on all vial- forming machines
- Understand machine operations and fundamentals
- Operates the glass machine and other machinery in the production process.
- Assists other machine operators and oversees technicians when assigned to Section C.
- Performs regular maintenance on the machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborates with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Adapts to a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Follows all safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
- Conducts quality checks for wavy vials on the vial-forming machines and conveyor belts.
- Uses Go-No-Go gauges and calipers to check vials every hour for specifications.
- Verify that vials meet bottom thickness and length specifications.
- Ensures vials are standing straight and do not have rounded bottoms by checking five vials per machine.
Qualifications:
- Ability to verify the measurement of materials.
- Ability to understand/comprehend instructions necessary to meet production demands.
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Ability to apply concepts such as basic math to practical situations.
- Mechanical aptitude required.
- Must have good communication, organizational, and cross-training skills.
- Performs other related duties as needed to meet production demands.
- Mechanical aptitude required for Bench Check.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand in one place for extended periods of time, in addition walk different machines/lathes.
- The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger for, handle, feel and to reach.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision.
