Role Description
The Accounting-Bookkeeper is a critical member of the finance team, responsible for the full cycle of accounting and financial management. This role includes maintaining accurate financial records, preparing detailed reports, managing payroll, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling all accounts, and supporting job costing. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of construction accounting principles and the ability to handle complex financial systems with precision.
Responsibilities
Accounting Management
· Implement and maintain all aspects of accounting and financial management required to support company profitability, operations, and growth.
· Prepare and manage monthly financial statements, including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and General Ledger.
· Oversee and reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and lines of credit.
· Supervise month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP principles.
· Manage and monitor cash flow, debt, and financial systems to ensure organizational stability.
Payroll and Tax Compliance
· Process payroll, including certified payroll and prevailing wage reports, taxes, and benefits administration.
· Maintain compliance with tax laws and regulations, coordinating tax preparation and reporting with external CPA firms.
· Update labor rates, burden rates, and other job-costing factors annually.
Accounts Payable and Receivable
· Ensure project managers approve invoices prior to processing.
· Enter invoices and purchase orders (POs) into QuickBooks, matching POs to corresponding expenses.
· Monitor accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, lien releases, and retention reports.
· Audit subcontractor and vendor records for compliance with workers' compensation, W9s, and certificates of insurance (COIs).
Construction-Specific Financial Oversight
· Prepare and track job cost reports, equipment usage, and labor allocations.
· Provide financial support to construction and estimating teams
· Annual and Continuous Improvement
· Update accounting policies, systems, and practices to align with industry standards and evolving regulations.
· Stay informed on the latest accounting practices and construction financial management trends through CFMA and GAAP principles.
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
· Proven experience in full-charge bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
· Proficiency in QuickBooks or other accounting software.
· Strong understanding of job costing, payroll, and financial reporting.
· Familiarity with GAAP principles and tax compliance requirements.
· Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
· Certifications: CPA, CFMA, or equivalent.
· Experience managing integrated accounting systems in a construction setting.
· Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

This is a full-time hourly position with Competitive pay
Hourly range: $22.00 /hour (commensurate with experience)
Work Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
