Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Audio Visual Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in audio-visual technology, including mechanical knowledge and experience with low voltage systems. This role involves setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting audio-visual equipment for permanent installations. The Installation Technician will work closely with supervisors, engineers and other on-site personnel bringing technical expertise to the field and ensuring that each installation is executed efficiently, safely and to the highest quality.
Responsibilities
- Wiring, trimming, rack building and commissioning.
- Read, understand and follow schematics, building plan sets and project specifications.
- Install, mount and configure a variety of AV equipment, including displays, projectors, sound systems, control panels and other AV components.
- Conduct thorough testing of installed equipment to verify functionality, performance and alignment with client requirements. Troubleshoot when necessary.
- Coordinate with project managers and designers to integrate systems seamlessly and within scope.
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, provide demonstrations and ensure that ‘first use inspires future use’.
- Follow company standards and policies to ensure high quality and aesthetics at every job site.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines and maintain a safe working environment.
- Conduct service and maintenance calls for existing systems.
- Ensure that site is left clean and tidy and that all empty packaging and containers are removed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Skilled in executing AV system installations, including wiring, device setup, and rack building, while following building plans and schematics.
- Capable of diagnosing and resolving issues with AV systems to ensure proper functionality and client satisfaction.
- General knowledge and implementation of IT systems, network switch configurations, and wireless networks.
- Effective at communicating at all levels, internally and with clients.
- Flexible in taking on various tasks as assigned by supervisors and effectively supporting maintenance and service call visits for customer systems.
Work Environment:
The Installation Technician will primarily work in a construction setting with regular engagement in off-site meetings, equipment installation, and in-house building of equipment racks prior to on-site installation. The role is primarily conducted while standing, kneeling, or crouching. This position requires the ability to drive a company vehicle, tow a trailer, load, and unload heavy equipment, operate a forklift, manlift, or scissor lift. This dynamic position requires flexibility, as it includes both independent work and much collaboration with internal teams.
- Typical hours: Monday through Friday; 7:00am - 3:30pm
- Travel: Frequent travel between job sites, some travel beyond 2-hours is required.
