Special Day Class Teacher Pool

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

Provides a basic core program for learning handicapped students consistent with state education code requirements.

Instructs children with learning disabilities using appropriate techniques, equipment, instructional materials and supplies in accordance with the Individualized Education Program for each student.

Remediates identified specific learning disabilities.

Reevaluates student performance on goals annually and conducts standardized assessments for each student triennially.

Evaluates student performance, keeps up-to-date records of individual student's progress and recommends revision of the I.E.P., as appropriate; modifies I.E.P. accordingly.

Creates individualized goals to address all areas of student need based on assessment data and California Content Standards.

Works closely with other special education staff members, e.g. psychologist, speech therapist, adaptive physical education teacher, and administration in the assessment process, program planning and to ensure implementation of the I.E.P.

Directs instructional aide and classroom volunteers.

Communicates with parents regularly as a means of effectively coordinating the efforts of the school and the home in the improvement of the overall program for the student.

Collaborates with regular classroom teachers to provide successful integration of the students into the regular program.

Creates and maintains an effective learning environment in which a positive self-image and self-help activities are stressed.

Implements classroom behavior management techniques as well as individualized behavior support plans as needed.

Responsible for timelines , completion of IEP paperwork, and overall IEP compliance for all students on caseload.

OUR LOCAL CONTROL ACCOUNTABILITY PLAN (LCAP)

The LCAP has three goals. Goal One addresses the conditions of learning which includes having a quality staff, instructional materials and safe school sites. Goal Two addresses student academic outcomes which includes impactful instruction and support that are informed by student assessment data. Goal Three addresses both social emotional health of our students and staff, and meaningful participation of our families which includes assessment and engagement with social emotional learning; supports for students, families and staff; promoting supportive school climate and providing for meaningful family input and participation.

Within all three of these goals, the actions follow within a three step plan. First, knowing our students and the impact the pandemic has had on them and their families. Second, expand instructional and social emotional support for our students. Third, understanding our impact on student success for all students.
