CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH UNIT
As a member of the patient care team, the CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (BEHAVIORAL HEALTH UNIT) performs direct and indirect psychiatric care to promote the comfort, safety and well-being of assigned patients as authorized by established hospital policy and procedure.
The successful candidate will possess the following :
- Six (6) months prior experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant in an inpatient psychiatric unit (may include experience working in an inpatient chemical dependency unit)
- Experience with involuntary patients
- Basic understanding of legal aspects of mental health, including confidentiality, holds, probable cause hearings and patient rights
- Experience with the Management of Aggressive Behavior and seclusions and restraints
- Valid CA CNA Certification with basic physical assessment skills
- BLS required
- LA City Fire Card (within 6 months of hire)
- Excellent customer service / interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organization skills required
- Ability to speak, read and write English
