What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Department Technician position at Pacifica Hospital of the Valley?
The primary role of the Emergency Room Technician (ERT) is to assist doctors, nurses and other medical personnel in providing the best quality emergency care possible to each and every patient. Duties may include taking and monitoring vital signs, collecting samples for laboratory analysis, providing supplies / instruments to clinical staff, assisting with safe movement of patients, and ensuring patient bed is ready for patient.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean and stock carts and, rooms (changing linen as required)
- Decontaminate equipment, instruments and supplies
- Assist with patient transfer to other units
- Assist with CPR/resuscitation and emergency airway procedures
- Assist with obtaining and documenting vital signs, cardiac monitoring and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring
- Assist with wound care and dressing
- Assist in obtaining 12-lead EKG, discontinuation of peripheral IV and heparin/saline lock
- Assist with positioning patients, application of orthopedic splints / slings
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- One (1) year clinical experience as an Emergency Medical Technician, preferably in an emergency or urgent care environment
- Valid CA EMT Certification and BLS required
- MAB preferred – will be required to obtain after employment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills
