What are the responsibilities and job description for the Respiratory Care Practitioner / Subacute position at Pacifica Hospital of the Valley?
The primary role of the Respiratory Care Practitioner is to provide respiratory therapy services to residents as ordered by a physician and according to established standards and practices. The Respiratory Care Practitioner will respond to all emergency calls within the Subacute Unit for the purpose of providing prompt resident assessment and application of resuscitative care, as well as appropriate respiratory interventions.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Administer oxygen therapy via the devices and techniques as ordered by a physician.
- Administer respiratory medications as ordered by a physician.
- Administer medical gas mixtures as ordered by a physician.
- Assess and administer humidification and aerosol therapy appropriate to the resident condition.
- Set-up and maintain mechanical ventilation as ordered by a physician.
- Assist in ventilator weaning and discontinuance as ordered by a physician.
- Assess ventilator and tracheostomy weaning
- Provide tracheostomy care including tube changes as ordered by a physician and / or Hospital policy.
- Perform airway management, suctioning and tracheostomy tube cuff pressure management.
- Educate and train resident / family prior to discharge.
